What

is Ignite?

There is an overwhelming abundance of evidence that proves the positive effects that exercise has on restoring function and preventing disease progression in almost all neurologic disorders. The RIGHT type of exercise can help to change your brain chemistry and even allow for restoration of function. Our focus has been primarily on working with people with Parkinson’s and encouraging increased intensity of exercise. We are now opening our services to working people of all types of neurologic disorders to promote health, optimize function, and help you understanding your body in the presence of neurologic dysfunction.

Ignite is a group of active physical therapists who work with patients with neurologic disorders. In particular, we saw a lack of appropriate community exercise access for people with Parkinson’s. We are frequently educating patients on the benefits of intensive exercise but are unable to give them access to a community program. We saw the gap and decided it was time to fill it.

Ignite Fitness offers group community exercise classes that follow up to date evidence. Our classes are currently focused on people with Parkinson’s, but we are open to anyone with neurologic dysfunction to join.

We focus on large amplitude, high intensity, and high-speed exercise training as well as techniques to reduce rigidity and improve balance/flexibility. We will offer exercise to target the common symptoms with Parkinson’s including bradykinesia, rigidity, incoordination, imbalance, and fatigue. We hope to offer a collaborative and motivating environment to learn how to best manage your disorder and improve function and mobility.
